Poker Odyssey - March 3rd, 2004

Mar. 3rd, 2004

12:47 am - Fun!

Holy crap, what a day. If you'll remember I had my worst day ever last friday, losing more than $500...today, less than a week later, I have a new record for my best day ever, winning slightly more than I lost last Friday.

Most of my big win came from my afternoon session. Played four 2/4 tables at party and had a really good run. Party crashed (I was actually on a break so avoided the frustration), so I went to play at a smaller site I'm trying out. This site is pretty small, but the games are really soft. I jumped into two 3/6 games (which were playing like 1/2 at party) and continued my good run. Hit one monster hand that gave me a 30+ BB pot...it was wild.

My evening session was less enjoyable. Started out great, but around the midpoint things started to equalize. I ended up giving back most of what I had one during the evening, but still finished a little on the plus side to post my big win for the day.

I know that today's results are due to some really good luck (just like last Friday's results were due to some really bad luck), basically I had a few key hands where I hit perfect hands and had opponents that hit perfect losing hands to pay me off. Poker is like that, that's why we love it.

Hours really are the key to being a successful player. After two days I can already see the difference my schedule is making in my attitude. I'm focusing less and less on how much I'm ahead/behind for the day and instead concentrating on putting in the hours. Yes, putting myself on a schedule has taken (a little) of the fun out of the game, because I'm now approaching it more like a job, but if I want to be successful this is the attitude I need to develop.

Anyways, I'm beat...time to grab a sandwich and watch adult swim on cartoon network. Peace.
